Dean Crouser

Dean Crouser is a lifelong outdoor enthusiast and his love of fishing, bird hunting, and sporting dogs is expressed in his watercolor paintings. While growing up in Oregon, Crouser spent his summers camping and fishing in the foothills of Mt. Hood, Columbia River Gorge and Central Oregon. But his first love was always drawing and painting. While in grade school he mowed lawns during the summer to earn money to pay for oil painting classes and throughout his artistic journey, Dean has continued his study of color and design.

An accomplished athlete, Dean Crouser was a high school state champion in track and field and went on to throw the shot put and discus at the University of Oregon. While at Oregon, Crouser was a 4-time Pac-10 Champion, 3-time NCAA Champion and 7-time All-American. He still holds both the shot put and discus school records at U of O and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2003.

In addition to painting, Crouser also enjoys wood carving, a craft he learned from his grandfather who was a fine furniture maker from Sweden. Dean specializes in carving and painting fish lures and decoys and his work is sought after and collected by people around the world. His carvings can be found at www.oldoregonlures.com.
